Panamericana Seafood www.abalones.cl, representing one of the aquaculture areas of Comercial Panamericana S.A., was created in 2000 with the objective of producing California Red Abalone (Haliotis rufescens) in Chile's IV Region, near the cities of Coquimbo and La Serena.

Comercial Panamericana S.A. with its vast experience in agro industrial marketing and distribution originally entered the aquaculture market, with a major project involving the culture of Blue mussels (Mytilus chilensis) as well as salmon culture in the past. Our objective is to provide our clients with a superior quality abalone, meeting the highest quality standards in every step of the productive process.
We emphasize that our abalone are fed with 100% natural food (brown algae from the region) which is the only means to assure the highest quality product.
The geographic location of our culture centre is strategically positioned to take advantage of critical natural conditions, including marine upwelling, high quality water free of any pollution and expeditious means of communication as required satisfying all the needs pertinent to a
leading culture operation.
Our company has given special importance to research designed to produce maximal survival rates in our abalone seed, using biotechnological innovations which allow for sustained
intensive culture production.
The culture technology that we have developed is based on artificial reproduction and subsequent out-culture of abalone in land-based tank systems.
Our culture centre is equipped with systems for continuous recording of critical data using
wireless sensors, in order to effect automated control of water quality parameters in the culture tanks such as dissolved oxygen, temperature, and pH. This assures us of continuous, optimal
culture conditions.
